Since 1992, the EECL has created a legacy of developing products which improve engine efficiency and reduce harmful emissions from engines as small as 1 hp to as large as 2500 hp. In addition, the EECL currently supports a number of biofuel research programs that focus on algae-derived fuels and straight vegetable oils.
In 2009 Colorado Governor Bill Ritter awarded the CCEC the Governor's Excellence in Renewable Energy award in the nonprofit category, which honors outstanding contributions to protect Colorado's environment, diversify the state's energy portfolio and provide clean power through renewable energy.
