Take Action
URGENT:
The Bush Administration is pushing to reopen the infamous Black Mesa strip mine, threatening water, air and ancestral homelands to thousands of
Navajo and Hopi families. There will SOON (before the adminisration leaves office) be a decision that could expand strip-mining and give Peabody Coal Company the right to mine untouched coal reserves indefinitely. We will all suffer from this terrible decision.
What you can do to help:
Visit The Black Mesa Water Coalition web site and follow their instructions.
PLEASE e-mail, mail, or fax a letter to the U.S. Office of Surface Mining and/or the U.S. Secretary of Interior. Tell OSM NOT to issue a "Life-of-Mine" permit for Peabody's "Black Mesa Project"!
Below is sample letter you can use and send to the U.S. Office of Surface Mining and/or the U.S. Secretary of the Interior.
