August 20, 2008 -- Xcel plans to close two coal-powered plants to meet a mandate to provide 20 percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2020. State regulators gave the go-ahead to Xcel Energy's plans for a green makeover: shutting down two coal-fired power plants in the state and building one of the world's largest utility-scale solar power plants. Xcel, Tri-State to team on building new transmission lines
October 22, 2008 - Colorado's two biggest power suppliers, Xcel Energy and Tri-State Generation and Transmission, have teamed to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to build transmission lines in the state.
The companies signed a memorandum of understanding Oct. 9 to consider transmission projects that would improve reliability of service and deliver electricity from future power plants. More
